After visiting Sr. Pugmire's quilt group in San Diego and seeing the exchange quilt they made, I emailed for the pattern. In hindsight, it is a lot of work for low impact. I didn't know that then and commmitted a few (in the end about 8) in the Del Mar quilt group to take part in the exchange (with romantic dream of the terrific fabrics we'd share). We made half-square triangles, quarter-square triangles, and just squares. I think I'll like it better later. For now, this is the second scrappy quilt I have finished in a short time. I even made it smaller than it should be because I was done. We divided the exchange into two parts over a year. We did half the exchange in June and half in November. The idea is to have light and dark fabric, but no medium, as the contrast makes the pattern. I found I had mostly medium fabric in my stash. If you love scrappy quilts, this will be a good one for you. There are so many fabrics in the quilt. I tied it with a couple strands of olive green floss (leftover from the embroidery on our wedding quilt . . . this to come next week!). We used it at a ward picnic. I love seeing the blankets people bring to picnic on!
