French Roses. Pattern by Heather Ross. |
I washed it twice in warm water and it looks nicely frayed. It was simply quilted on my home machine since it was small enough. Every time I use my machine to quilt, I decide to never do it again though this foray was more successful than my past.
Now I need to put a label on it and we're done! I will deliver it to the parents in a few weeks. I would definitely make this pattern again but want to use more subtle colors next time. The great thing about this one is that when you trim the centers from each layer of the rose, you end up with baby layers and can make a small French roses quilt after. Linking to Finish It Up Friday!

This is beautiful. Wish I could feel that texture from the frayed edge.
I've just found your lovely blog through your comment on crazy mom quilts. I was attracted to your art nouveau avatar.....Mucha?.....at the side of your comment. I love anything art nouveau and I was given a gorgeous Mucha calendar for Xmas. I absolutely love the quilt you've made. So pretty and gorgeous colours. What a lucky baby! Maggie xx

Oh, what an beautiful gift for a new baby, Karen! The colors aren't the usual 'babyish' ones, but wonderfully sophisticated. Mother must be thrilled with her sweet baby girl...and what this heirloom in which to bundle her!
An adult girl (me) would love this too!
Maggie knows a great blog when she see's one! Welcome! (I welcomed her for you, dear Apple Slice).
